International Women’s Summit 2026
Advancing Women’s Leadership in Politics, Economy and Diplomacy through the United Nations and International Governance Institutions
Overview
The International Women’s Summit 2026 in Geneva will convene senior women leaders, diplomats, parliamentarians and representatives of international organisations within one of the principal centres of multilateral governance. Hosted at the United Nations Office at Geneva, the Summit will focus on strengthening women’s leadership across international law, human rights policy, humanitarian coordination and global trade diplomacy. The Geneva setting provides five distinct advantages: direct engagement with the Human Rights Council and treaty bodies; proximity to specialised agencies and international organisations headquartered in Geneva; access to diplomatic missions accredited to the UN Office at Geneva; integration with the city’s humanitarian and development community; and a policy environment conducive to technical, norm-setting and regulatory dialogue.
Anchored in the principles of dignity, equity, voice, opportunity and peace, the Geneva Summit will emphasise policy coherence, implementation of international commitments and institutional reform. Through high-level roundtables and thematic working sessions, participants will develop evidence-based recommendations aimed at embedding gender-responsive approaches within multilateral frameworks. By situating the programme within a centre recognised for human rights diplomacy and specialised governance, the Summit will reinforce the structural and normative dimensions of women’s empowerment in the international system.
