WG10 Initiative:

“Interparliamentary Alliance for the Empowerment of Women in the Economy & Diplomacy”

Overview

The WG10 Initiative is an interparliamentary coalition originating from Northern Europe, dedicated to advancing the role of women in economic governance and diplomatic leadership. It is founded on the belief that women’s contributions are not only valuable but transformative, fostering collaborative leadership, strategic foresight, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusivity.

Extensive research confirms that diverse leadership enhances decision-making, better reflects the realities of diverse societies, and strengthens fairness and legitimacy in governance. Yet despite growing awareness of these benefits, women remain significantly underrepresented at the highest levels of global institutions. Organizations such as the United Nations, European Union, WTO, IMF, and others continue to exhibit deep gender imbalances, especially in senior decision-making roles and diplomatic posts. This disparity undermines the principles of democracy, pluralism, and global equity.

WG10 is a purposeful alliance, a platform for dialogue, evidence-based policy, and coordinated action. It brings together legislators, experts, and leaders to craft practical, forward-thinking solutions that elevate women in diplomacy and economic leadership. Through multilateral cooperation and strategic engagement, WG10 seeks to reshape global leadership, ensuring that women’s voices are not only heard, but embedded at the highest levels, helping shape a more resilient, inclusive, and equitable world.
