WG10 Summit:

“Interparliamentary Alliance for the Empowerment of Women in the Economy & Diplomacy”

The WG10 Summit will take place in the framework of The Scotland Forum 2025
(Edinburgh; September 1st-4th, 2025)

Introduction

The WG10 Summit will take place in Edinburgh as part of The Scotland Forum 2025, convening parliamentarians, diplomats, academics, business leaders, and civil society representatives from Scotland and the nine Baltic Sea nations. Alongside these regional voices, the Summit will welcome participants from national parliaments, international institutions, and the global business community.

The Summit’s goal is to advance innovative policy dialogue, build strategic alliances, and deliver meaningful progress in empowering women in two critical domains: the global economy and international diplomacy. Moving beyond advocacy, WG10 is focused on generating concrete solutions and fostering enduring partnerships that contribute to a more resilient, inclusive, and equitable world.

Agenda

The WG10 Summit will serve as a dynamic platform for strategic dialogue, policy innovation, and multilateral collaboration. The opening plenary will highlight gender imbalances in global economic and diplomatic leadership, addressing systemic barriers while recognizing the transformative power of women’s leadership.

The program will include:

  • Expert panels and fireside conversations exploring institutional reform, best practices, and cross-country insights.
  • Keynote speeches on reforming recruitment systems, advancing gender-responsive economic policies, and strengthening career pathways for women in diplomacy and governance.
  • Collaborative sessions focused on building partnerships between public institutions, the private sector, and multilateral organizations.

The Summit will conclude with a joint declaration, a shared commitment and strategic roadmap to accelerate women’s participation in global decision-making. This declaration will serve as a catalyst for continued collaboration, including the creation of dedicated working groups and future regional dialogues under the WG10 Initiative.
