The Nordic Initiative
For a Diplomatic Accord in Israel and Palestine
The The Nordic Initiative is led by its primary coordinators, Ville Skinnari (Member of the Finnish Parliament) and Johan Büser (Member of the Swedish Parliament).
“The Nordic Initiative for a Diplomatic Accord in Israel and Palestine” embodies a renewed and principled commitment to ending the cycle of violence and the threat of ethnic cleansing, while supporting a peaceful resolution to one of the world’s most protracted and complex conflicts. Drawing on a longstanding commitment to democracy, international law, human rights, and multilateral cooperation, the Initiative seeks to foster conditions conducive to a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
Firmly anchored in the principles of adherence to international law, the protection of civilians, and inclusivity, the Nordic Initiative aims to complement existing international efforts. It offers a balanced, credible, and trusted platform for engagement, grounded in extensive, long-term experience in international affairs, human rights, and the rule of law.
The Initiative will prioritize ending violence, revitalizing diplomatic engagement, reducing tensions, and identifying viable pathways toward a negotiated two-state solution. In a time marked by deep division and human suffering, this Initiative stands as a clear reminder that peace is not a remote aspiration, it is a collective responsibility that begins with dialogue, empathy, and sustained commitment.
The initiative will run in parallel with the “Berlin Initiative” (www.berlininitiative.org), which was initiated by Dr. Yossi Beilin (www.yossibeilin.org) and Dr. Hiba Husseini (www.hibahusseini.org).
