Interparliamentary Alliance for Women’s Leadership
Advancing Equality Through Parliamentary Action
Overview
The Interparliamentary Alliance for Women’s Rights is a collaborative platform bringing together members of parliament from different countries to advance the protection and promotion of women’s rights. It provides a structured forum for dialogue, exchange of best practices and coordination on legislative approaches aimed at strengthening gender equality. Through its work, the Council seeks to support harmonised standards, encourage accountability and reinforce the role of parliaments in addressing discrimination, violence and structural barriers affecting women.
The Alliance also serves as a mechanism for sustained parliamentary cooperation on global and regional priorities related to women’s rights. It facilitates joint initiatives, policy recommendations and cross-border engagement with international organisations, civil society and relevant stakeholders. It works in close cooperation with national governments and global governance organisations to ensure alignment between parliamentary action, executive policy and multilateral frameworks. By fostering long-term cooperation among legislators and institutions, the Interparliamentary Alliance for Women’s Rights aims to translate shared commitments into practical legal and policy outcomes that improve the lived realities of women and girls.
